Nothing but the best for you: all our systems come with industry-leading technology, enabling your doctor to deliver your therapy with precision, tailored to your individual needs and with the flexibility to adapt your treatment as needed.
Types of Implantable Pulse Generators (IPGs)
Each individual is unique. This is why we offer multiple options that your physician can choose the best fit for you. There are two types of stimulators or IPGs, with varying MRI-conditionality.
* We have previous models that have been implanted in the past. Not all have the same therapy capabilities described or MRI conditionality, although all are based on the same hardware technology.
What is the difference?
The main difference between these two stimulators is the longevity of the device. Though the systems use the same core technology, each offers some unique benefits.
- Our rechargeable systems are expected to last for at least 12 years1. Recharging is very simple to do and information on this can be found here.
- Our non-rechargeable systems do not need to be charged by the patient. Depending on therapy usage and stimulation settings, a battery could last between 1 to 7 years1. When battery depletes, you would need to undergo surgery for a replacement device.
Therapeutic options
The right therapy, right where you need it.
Following surgery and recovery, your SCS system will be turned ON and the stimulation settings will be customised for you. Our SCS System are designed to be programmed to find your unique pain relief thanks to a wide range of therapy waveforms options. The programming can be adjusted to maintain therapy in the right spot over time. Boston Scientific developed multiple proprietary algorithms and therapies for their SCS devices, as well as introducing combination therapy.* This is the ability to layer multiple therapies and therefore engage multiple mechanisms of action simultaneously.
*Please note that combination therapy, FAST™ and Microburst™ are only available on our Spectra WaveWriter™ and WaveWriter Alpha™ portfolio.
1 The battery life is dependent on the stimulation settings and conditions.
2 The Precision Spectra™ or Spectra Wave Writer™ SCS System with ImageReady™ MRI Technology is “MR-Conditional” only when exposed to the MRI environment under the specific conditions defined in the ImageReady MRI Guidelines for Precision Spectra or Spectra WaveWriter Spinal Cord Stimulator Systems.
